I don't so much mind waiting for Apple to fix my computer (Revision A MacBook Pro, you know the rest), it's just the lack of information or updates that's annoying me. Would it be too much to know the state it's in, who's looked at it, what's been fixed, what hasn't, what they think they need to fix etc? The fun thing is that every time I call to ask what's going on, after 3 minutes of quoting referance numbers (and telling the rep they have my computer), they put me on hold and then tell me the exact same thing as the above. Grrr...
So, I vaguely started attempting to run a week or two ago, I say attempted, as my fitness level is such that my body finds sweating and giving me a stitch preferable to actually running at anything faster than a Ritalin enhanced snail's pace.
Stuff I've learned so far: I'm ludicrously unfit, running at 5am is
rather nice (providing you're living on a timezone different to your
native one at the time), listening to sci-fi podcasts is great but
slows you down somewhat, focusing on an item in the 'distance' is a
good way to make your body just run like hell for the sake of it, at
least for a while, drinking ludicrous amounts of water *before* you go
for a run is a very solid idea, oh, and I look stupid in the workout
trousers I bought a while ago and need to get some shorts that somehow look less horrific.
Nonetheless, the iPod + Nike thingy is pretty nice, the shoes, although requiring a couple of bits of tape on the inside to stop my ludicrously sized feet (US 14) from being poked by the insoles, are pretty good (light and forgettable in all the right ways), while the sport kit and nano software update is generally quite solid.
Unfortunately for the hacker in me, the voice prompts appear to be stored on the receiver itself, which means it's probably going to be a while before someone works out how to replace the nice male & female voices that report your speed and distance, along with the impromptu messages from Lance Armstrong and Paula Radcliffe congratulating you on besting a previous record, into angry drill instructors who spew igdignaition with every comment ;).
Found while browsing the rather nicely redesigned Iconfactory, I'm not a huge Superman fan, though the tv series is just a little laser-etched into my mind as the show I sat in my pj's and watched on a saturday morning before Live & Kicking started.
on Shazam couldn't find it
